A yoke is placed on oxen or donkeys to control them and direct their movements. A plough is attached to the yoke, and the animal uses its energy to till the land. In the same way, Satan yokes some people so he can control and use them.(Based on Isaiah 10:27)
But Jesus says in Matthew 11:30, “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
For many, the yoke is a demonic influence that directs their lives. You go where demons want you to go, and you fail to do what you desire to do. Check yourself—what has yoked you? Some have been yoked by Satan and have accepted sin, pain, poverty, and sickness as a “normal life.” But that yoke must be broken in the name of Jesus!
Some situations people face come from bad character. Character can become a yoke. It is far easier to break other yokes than to break the yoke of bad character. Yet there are qualities you can develop that attract favour.
There is also the yoke of inferiority, where you believe you do not qualify for certain opportunities, and you end up disqualifying yourself.
The Anointing That Breaks the Yoke Isaiah 10:27 (KJV)
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
The verse shows that the yoke is broken by internal growth, not external factors. The neck becomes “fat”—meaning you grow spiritually to a point where the yoke breaks off you.
Some anointing works from within you, not just from external prayer. You need to outgrow your poverty, your demons, your problems, and your challenges. Not every challenge ends through prayer alone. External anointing helps, but some breakthroughs require internal growth and maturity.
For others, the yoke breaks when they study, work, and grow in discipline. When you are yoked by a demon, even opportunities will not help—but today that yoke must break.
Growing in Grace 2 Peter 3:17–18 (KJV)
“Ye therefore, beloved… beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
Be careful of people who try to remove you from Jesus.
Declare: “I am going to grow in grace.”
Grace is unmerited favour—something you are not qualified for, something you cannot obtain by your own efforts. Grace breaks the yoke.
You grow in grace by loving God. The more you love God, the more grace increases in your life.
Growth in grace comes through:
Fasting
Prayer
Giving offerings
Paying tithes
Your giving attracts favour. The yoke of poverty is broken through giving.
When you give, you:
Give first to God.
Give to your parents.
Give to the needy and the poor.
Spiritual Growth and Sonship Galatians 4:1–7 (KJV)
“Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant… But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son… And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”
You must grow in your knowledge of God. A child, though an heir, cannot access his inheritance. It is maturity that gives you access. Your spiritual growth determines your freedom, authority, and inheritance in Christ.
